[FKL] lectropop - DJ Spyhunter

Experience with a Shot of Innovative Funk…

DJ Spyhunter sounds like a character out of something Ian Fleming would’ve written, and though a UK native, the only thing this cat has a license to kill is the dancefloor massive! I first encountered a Spyhunter mixtape, as in tape cassette…, back in the mid 1990’s and even then he was pioneering the blend of styles such as trance, progressive and funky breaks, that is his signature today. At the time he was breaking in the Hawaii club scene and has since relocated to San Francisco where his modern day incarnation has incorporated more of the electro house movement.

I ran across quite a tasty set of his recently called “lectropo” that is a must download! With cuts from the likes of Black Daniel, Alex Metric, Digitalism, Sneaky Sound System, Teki Latex, and Daft Punk, “lectropop” is guarunteed to make you want to pop and lock. In Spyhunter’s own words :”strobing white vocals, blinding neon filters, held together with pixelated hooks. this is the party that goes on in the alley between the breaks club and the indie pop dive. just watch out for the cops! ”

[FKL] Sirius Break - Illectro Phunk’s Back

Holy Funk!

Sirius Break turns the funk up all the way up with his latest effort - ‘Illectro Phunk’s Back’. Get ready for some big, bad bass, boys and girls because this set is made up of some massive, memorable nu-skool and tech-funk floor fillers that will either pin you to the wall or make you expel all sorts of bodily fluids.

You can always expect something remarkable when Dylan Rhymes takes on Elite Force; and when when our mixologist throws in tunes from the likes of DJ Fixx, Deadmau5, Burufunk, Melleefresh and two huge acts from ‘Against The Grain‘ - Krafty and the Freestylers, you know you have yourself one hell of a party! Oh, look out for one truly wicked remix of a certain set of disco balls.

Posting this on behalf of JK.

The FoundationKL.org Official 4th Anniversary Party and Juice DJ Quest Victory Party

Dear Club-owner / Promoter,

On the 5th / 6th of December, FoundationKL.org, one of the most influential websites on Malaysian dance music will be holding their official 4th Anniversary party in Kuala Lumpur. Concurrently, we will also be celebrating the achievement of two of our top DJs, EJ and Anowl, who have both won the Juice DJ Quest Local Finals in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur respectively and will be facing each other at the regional finals, also held on that night.

We are looking for a Venue who are interested in working with us to hold this monumental event.

We have an average of over 50,000 unique visitors to this website per month. Also, we specialize in social media marketing for our DJs and musicians. Any association your club may have on our website will positively affect your credibility with the local underground, as well as take advantage of our fully operational direct marketing capabilities.

The testimonials on this website, as well as the widespread exposure found throughout the Internet should be enough to verify our credibility.

To turn down our offer would be a waste of valuable media exposure, where I can confidently say has a net worth of 5-digits or more. Please feel free to contact any media-buyers you may know if you so-choose to confirm our claim.

In exchange for the usage of your venue, sound system, and your cooperation, we will give you a full size 100 x 200 banner on the right hand of our sidebar. Any information architect will tell you that this is prime web property, and we will give you this space, pro-bono, for up to 4 months.

Additionally, we will use our social media engine to inform our followers, fans, media, and supporters towards to event. A demographic of working mid-20-somethings, with mostly disposable incomes.

If you are interested in discussing this further, please feel free to contact me personally at my email address at johnkuan(AT)foundationkl(DOT)org.

Warmest Regards,

John Kuan

PS: Please forward this page to all your friends who would be interested in cooperating with us. Thanks.

[FKL] Dj Möet - Look Ma, No Headphones

Unbridled. Unplanned. Ecstatic.

Our boy Pascal a.k.a Dj Möet brings a little retrospection this time around with Look Ma, No Headphones that revisits some of the sounds that have influenced him over the years.

Drawing inspiration from straight and broken beats alike, Möet creates a visage that tapers between big ballsy funk and deep, hypnotic cuts. And boy does it take you back!

Dylan Rhymes reworks JDS. Hi 8 gets down with Dan F & Jariten. M.I.Loki tears it up with Plaza de Funk and Armand van Helden takes on Felix Da Housecat. And that’s just half the list.

Sexy Meow indeed!

Obama Wins. Why Should You Care?

Dear History,

Barack Hussein Obama will soon take office as the 44th president of the world’s largest superpower. A catalyst that has done what has long been thought as the unthinkable. One who has vowed that “a new dawn of American leadership is at hand”. The man who is looked upon to undo, not just the mis-steps of the Bush administration, but perhaps even taking Reaganistic propagandas head on. To propel his country to greater, more progressive heights. The man who has been called the heir to John F. Kennedy.

These are certainly interesting times. The internet has played a crucial role in the Obama-Biden campaign. Also, during the last Malaysian general elections, we saw how powerful a medium of propagation the blogsphere can be. Perhaps this not only heralds changing times for the world of politics, but also for the Internet and online communities. Such as the one we have with the Foundation.

So what does this mean to you? What does this promise of “Hope, Action and Change” mean, not just for our American friends, but also for the rest of us? What do you, people of the Foundation, make of all of this? How will this new wave of optimism translate into further liberalising the arts and online communities?

As Arundhati Roy once said: “Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”

The revolution has begun and we’re going to be a part of it, like it or not. What are you going to do?

Head to the comments and leave us your thoughts.

This might be a little too late. Still relevant, nonetheless.

Shrink thesuperglo down, introduce him to the Smurfs and this is what happens. He turns them all into psy-heads!

Bringing out some hypnotic psychedelic wizardry with yet another brilliant mixset, thesuperglo rips his way through with tunes from Electrypnose, Psymmetrix, Rastaliens and whole lot more; all stitched together with impeccable precision.

I can totally see Smurfette grooving to this. Gargamel, eat your heart out!
